Why Ascension Group Partnered With 7th Level: The NEPQ Integration Story

We could have built sales training ourselves. We deliberately didn't. Here's why.

Ascension Group Blog/PARTNERSHIP: 7TH LEVEL/Why Ascension Group Partnered With 7th Level: The NEPQ Integration Story

Every operating system has a build-vs-buy decision at every layer. Ascension Group's Seller Certainty System has four pillars, and for three of them (Pillar 1 Certified Listings, Pillar 2 Buyer Attraction, Pillar 3 Follow-Up), we built proprietary infrastructure from scratch.

For Pillar 4 (Training), we did the opposite. We partnered with 7th Level and made their NEPQ methodology the official training framework for every partner team.

This blog explains exactly why. And it's also the answer to the question we get from almost every team leader on their first strategy call: "Why don't you just do the training yourselves?"

Updated May 11, 2026.

What is the Ascension Group + 7th Level partnership?

The Ascension Group + 7th Level partnership is a structured integration that delivers Jeremy Miner's NEPQ sales certification to every real estate team that joins our Accelerator or Command tier.

Partners receive full access to the 7th Level core NEPQ curriculum, including live training, recorded modules, the objection handling library, daily tonality drills, and weekly recorded call review by a certified NEPQ coach. We embed this training into the 90-day Seller Certainty System install and continue it indefinitely as part of the ongoing operating system.

The partnership is not an affiliate arrangement. We don't earn commissions on 7th Level certifications outside our partner network. The integration exists because we believed (and the data confirmed) that NEPQ is the right training framework for real estate listing acquisition.

Why we didn't build sales training in-house

Three structural reasons.

First. The methodology already existed. Jeremy Miner had spent 17 years developing NEPQ and another 9 years refining it through 7th Level. Building a competitor from scratch would have taken us 5 to 10 years and produced something that, at best, would have been a derivative of NEPQ with a different name.

Second. We want to be the best operating system, not the best sales trainer. Ascension Group's expertise is in building seller appointment acquisition infrastructure. We're operators, not sales trainers. 7th Level's expertise is in sales training. They're trainers, not operators. The partnership lets each side focus on what we do best.

Third. The data was already in. Before we formalized the partnership, several of our top-performing partner teams had paid for 7th Level certification independently. We watched their conversion rates climb 15 to 30 percentage points within 90 days. When the same methodology produced the same result across multiple markets and team sizes, the build-vs-buy decision was over.

How did the partnership come together?

The partnership originated in early 2025 after our internal data team ran a multi-quarter analysis on sales call recordings across our partner portfolio.

We were looking for the patterns that distinguished the top-quartile agents (closing at 70 percent or higher) from the bottom-quartile agents (closing at 30 percent or lower). The expected patterns (more calls, more experience, better leads) didn't hold up.

What we found instead: the top-quartile agents asked an average of 3.2 questions per minute in the first 7 minutes of an appointment. The bottom-quartile agents asked 0.8 questions per minute and made 4.1 statements per minute in the same window.

That ratio (more questions, fewer statements, slower pace) matched exactly one published sales methodology: NEPQ.

We reached out to 7th Level directly to verify the pattern with their team. After two months of conversations, we structured the partnership and began the integration.

What does the integration include for Ascension Group partners?

Five components.

Component 1: Core NEPQ certification. Every team that joins our Accelerator or Command tier receives full enrollment in the 7th Level NEPQ core curriculum. This is a $5,000 to $15,000 retail value depending on team size, included in the partnership fee.

Component 2: Daily tonality drills. Pre-built 15-minute daily drills delivered through our partner portal. Each drill targets one element of NEPQ tonality (pace, pitch, pause length, tone neutrality).

Component 3: Weekly recorded call review. Each partner team submits one recorded call per week per agent. A certified NEPQ coach reviews the call against the framework, provides specific behavioral feedback, and assigns the agent's behavioral commit for the following week.

Component 4: Objection handling library. Pre-built scripted responses to the 30+ most common seller objections (price, timing, talking to other agents, market conditions, commission, etc.), all framed as NEPQ question redirects.

Component 5: Certification testing. At the end of the 90-day install, each agent completes a live role-play assessment with a 7th Level coach. Passing certification means the agent can execute NEPQ under pressure, not just recite it. We track certification rates across the partner portfolio as a leading indicator of long-term partnership success.

What does this do to partner team performance?

Three measurable shifts based on internal data from our 2025 partner cohort.

Shift 1: Listing conversion rate. Average partner team listing conversion climbed from 41 percent (pre-install baseline) to 64 percent (90 days post-install). Bottom-quartile agents specifically jumped from 28 percent to 51 percent. The gap between top and bottom quartile compressed by half.

Shift 2: Time to signed agreement. Average days from first appointment to signed listing agreement dropped 38 percent across the partner portfolio. Same sellers. Different conversation. Faster commitment.

Shift 3: Agent retention. Partner teams that completed full NEPQ certification saw 22 percent lower agent turnover in the 12 months post-install compared to teams that did not. Top performers stay where they're being developed.

Why does this matter for real estate specifically (not just sales in general)?

Real estate listing acquisition has two structural challenges that make most sales training a poor fit.

Challenge 1: the appointment is high-stakes for the seller. Listing a home is the largest financial transaction most sellers will make in their life. The seller's defensive instinct is intense. Standard pitch-based sales training triggers that defense and loses the listing.

Challenge 2: the seller has options. There are typically 3 to 5 agents competing for any given listing. Standard rebuttal-based objection handling ("let me overcome your concern") moves the seller toward the agent who feels the least like a salesperson, not the one with the best rebuttal.

NEPQ is built specifically to solve both challenges. It positions the agent as a curious professional, not a pitch-driven competitor. The seller's defensive reflex doesn't fire. The seller's option-comparison shifts toward the agent who feels like a consultant.

How does this differ from other real estate sales training (Tom Ferry, Mike Ferry, etc.)?

Tom Ferry, Mike Ferry, Buffini, and other established real estate trainers focus heavily on prospecting volume, daily activity discipline, and mindset. These programs are excellent at building habits and lead generation muscle.

NEPQ through 7th Level focuses specifically on what happens inside the listing appointment itself. The first 7 minutes. The objection redirect. The close.

In our partner portfolio, the best results come from teams that pair the two: traditional real estate prospecting discipline (Tom or Mike Ferry style) for the front of the funnel, plus NEPQ for the conversion layer. The two are complementary, not competitive.

How does the partnership protect Ascension Group's partners?

Three guarantees structurally embedded into the partnership.

Guarantee 1: NEPQ certification is included. Partners don't pay 7th Level separately. The certification is part of the partnership fee.

Guarantee 2: Ongoing coaching is included. Weekly recorded call review continues indefinitely as long as the partnership is active. Most sales training is a one-time event. NEPQ through Ascension is an ongoing operating component.

Guarantee 3: Partner-specific adaptations are built in. We've worked with 7th Level to develop real-estate-specific NEPQ variants for listing appointments, buyer consultations, expired listing calls, and FSBO outreach. Generic NEPQ would not address the specific dynamics of these conversations. Our adaptation does.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get NEPQ training without partnering with Ascension Group?

Yes. 7th Level sells their training directly. The cost ranges from $5,000 to $25,000+ per year depending on team size. Going through Ascension Group integrates NEPQ with the rest of the Seller Certainty System and includes ongoing coaching that isn't part of the standalone 7th Level program.

Does Ascension Group earn commissions on 7th Level training sales outside the partner network?

No. The partnership is a structured integration, not a referral or affiliate arrangement. We have no financial incentive to recommend 7th Level to teams that don't join our partner program.

What if my team has already done other sales training (Tom Ferry, Mike Ferry, Sandler, etc.)?

NEPQ stacks well with any front-end prospecting program. Teams that have already done Tom Ferry or Mike Ferry typically adapt to NEPQ faster because they have the activity discipline already in place. NEPQ is added to the conversion layer, not replacing the prospecting layer.

Is NEPQ certification mandatory for all Ascension Group partners?

NEPQ certification is included in Accelerator and Command tier partnerships. It's optional in Foundation tier (we recommend it but don't require it). In practice, every Foundation tier partner who's upgraded to Accelerator has cited NEPQ as the deciding factor.

How quickly does NEPQ produce results?

Most teams see measurable conversion rate improvement within the first 30 days. Full certification and behavioral consolidation typically takes 90 days. Long-term compounding continues for as long as the daily drills and weekly review are maintained.
